Horror writer Yuu "Bambi" Kojika has just moved into a new apartment. While the apartment is comfortable, conveniently located, and affordable on his terrible salary, there is a catch: the previous tenant committed suicide in the unit. Despite being a horror writer—or perhaps because of that—Bambi never believed in the supernatural and is completely unfazed by this revelation.
Following the cancellation of his serialization, Bambi's editor suggests that Bambi try writing a supernatural story based on his own experiences for a change. The only issue with this request is that Bambi has never had any other-worldly encounters before. However, just as he begins to lose hope, he notices the elusive spirit of a high school-aged girl appearing in his apartment at night.
The spirit known as Ako is more than willing to give her story to Bambi to write about. At the same time, local high school student Ako Yamashiro has been dreaming about an apartment inhabited by a man who looks awfully similar to the struggling writer. As Bambi delves deeper into Ako's story, the two phenomena may be more closely related than either of them realize.
Young horror writer “Bambi” (pen name: Kojika Kanoko; gender: male) never believed in the supernatural and therefore had no issue with moving into an apartment where a suicide had taken place. After his serialisation was discontinued, he was asked to start writing a short story based on actual experience. He then noticed a spirit in his apartment, an amnesiac high school girl by the name of “Ako.” Since Ako was a relatively friendly and talkitive spirit, not to mention harmless, with her permission, Bambi used her as a model for his next work. But there’s another “Ako,” Yamashiro Ako, a gloomy high school girl who dreams every night from the spirit’s perspective.
